Ryan Elliott will launch his new label, Faith Beat, with an EP of his own next month.
Faith Beat will release “techno, house and anything in between” with a particular focus on club tools. The idea for the label was born out of the Berlin-via-Detroit artist’s desire to contribute and give back to the scene as a producer and label owner, rather than solely being a DJ.
“One of the things that gives me the most happiness is record shopping every week,” Elliott tells Resident Advisor. “I want Faith Beat to be part of that experience for other people. I’ve wanted to do my own label for a long time, but I always knew that I should wait until the concept and vision were completely clear in my mind before executing it. Now it is.”
The Berghain/Panorama Bar resident goes on to describe the meaning behind the imprint’s name: “‘Faith’ is defined as ‘complete trust or confidence in someone or something.’ That something for me is and has always been music. It completely changed the course of my life and took me to places I never thought I would go. I chose the name Faith Beat to honor the way music unites us and brings us closer to each other.”
Aptly named, The Introduction EP consists of “machine-driven grooves, rich synthesis and heavy armoured drum work,” according to the press release. Other upcoming releases on the Faith Beat include an EP from “one of my very close friends (and sometimes DJ partner),” Elliott teases, and another EP from the label boss himself.
