Islands Of Memory

Alog is a Norwegian duo founded by Dag-Are Haugan and Espen Sommer Eide (who also released under the name Phonophani). They already released four wonderful albums of electronic music, three on the Norway-based Rune Grammofon label, and one on Norway’s Melektronic a few months ago called Catch that Totem, which consits of a collection of rarities and remixes.

Islands of Memory is the long awaited lost EP that was recorded during the summer of 1999 in Malmo, Sweden. It was scheduled for release around the time of the Duck-Rabbit CD for Rune Grammofon.

Due to unknown problems at the vinyl plant, it never saw the light of day, and was lost boiling in the vinyl cauldron somewhere in Switzerland. Fortunately, Creaked records got the master tape back and Islands of Memory is now finally getting released. The wait is over, and it was well north it!

Trought brainchild ideas of Dag-Are and Espen, Alog bring a breath of fresh air in the electro- nic music scene, with their really own blend of modern, melodic and minimal electronica merged with warm instruments and organic sounds.

A plethora of minuscule details is carfully arran- ged so as to inflict the strongest emotional and intellectual impact upon the listener.
Alog promises to always strive for the unexpected and surprising-the settling and unnerving quality of sound that escapes any final categorisation.

Coming in a beautiful design from Magnus at Grandpeople (also responsible for the Catch that Totem artwork), Islands of Memory is definitely a must have for every curious fans of contempo- rary electronic music.
