Hashman Deejay is one of many aliases used by Vancouver’s Tanner Matt, who returns under the alias for the first time in a couple of years on Salik’s Counter 99 label – which is back in action after a four year hiatus. The long awaited offering comes in the form of the deeply ethereal techno of “Drum Star” that is awash in celestial synth textures with a simple kick beneath it – all together creating a truly meditative feeling. Over on the flip, you have the hypnotic percussive tool techno of “House Rockers” borrowing from Todd Terry and Pal Joey to wonderful effect.
